Walking The Steep Hill of Lord’s Forgiveness

This poem is written by using verses from surah 90, the City, and surah 3, The Family of Imran in the Quran.

The City,
I swear by this city that we are created for toil and trial,
In the time that truth has come to surface
And the bully and the racist have his heart on his sleeves,
What will explain to you what the steep path is?
It is to fight for the deprived and excluded,
For immigrants in jails,
For fathers torn from their children,
What will explain to you what God’s forgiveness is?
God’s forgiveness is given to those who choose to walk the steep path,
In this time of openness,
When nothing is hidden from sight,
They come to you in plain day and take your children away,
They come in clear sight and call all the progressive media the enemy of people,
They look into the eyes of blazing days and deny global warming,
They unabashedly declare that unions have to die
That regulations must go
The rich must get richer
And the poor are called criminals and rapists,
In this time, we have no choice but to walk the steep hill.

Forgiveness is for those who give, in the time of prosperity and adversity,
Who fight for justice and peace,
Forgiveness is for those who walk the steep hill
And urge one another to steadfastness and compassion,
Lucky are we who in this post truth time of blunt atrocity,
We have no choice but to walk the steep path of Lord’s forgiveness.
